The 30-year-old joined a star-studded team rotation It includes Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes, Luis Severino and Frankie Montas. With Rodón added to the mix, the Yankees’ starting pitching team has a good chance of being among the best in the American League.
Rodón will likely be added as the number 2 starter after Cole, who set a franchise record with 257 wins last season and led the big ones. Rodón wasn’t far behind with 237 hits, giving New York a deadly one-two combination.

An All-Star in each of at least two seasons, Rodón recorded a 2.88 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 178 innings on his way to a 14-8 record in 2022. One of the most consistent shooters in MLB.
The Yankees rotation was dominated by right-handers last season, and the 2022 All-Star Cortes were the team’s only left-handed. Rodón gives New York another left-handed shooter, and that definitely pays off when playoff time comes.
With multiple pitchers with ace potential, the Yankees have increased their chances of returning to the World Series for the first time since 2009.
