serhii makhno launches NFTs of ceramic zoomorphic sculptures

serhii makhno’s ‘meta dido’ debuts as first nft series

Ukrainian architect and interior designer Serhii Makhno He released his first work ‘META DIDO’ from MAKHNO Studio. NFT collection ceramic art. The digital tokens reinterpret a series of zoomorphic sculptures created and released by Makhno in 2019 under the name ‘DIDO’. Real-life ceramic objects reflecting ancient Ukrainian folklore depict animal-like figures or ‘miracle monsters’, each part of a large family with its own legend.

DIDO characters redefine the fantastic beasts that inhabit Ukrainian cities and towns: laughing bears, moustached lions, dreamy sheep and curly-tailed grasshoppers. They tell stories about the customs and realities of their country, about their life and what bothers and cheers them up. Each DIDO has its own life story, but its mission is the same – to protect,’ architect/designer writer.

Exploring endless animal forms, Serhii Makhno completed the sculptures in his workshop and made each as a single living copy in his family collections. The first DIDO series recreates the Carpathian family living in the Frankivsk village of Lanchyn with ten members made up of bears (owners of the waters), lions (guardians of time), and sheep (symbolizing fear and overcoming it).

encoding ukrainian traditions into the blockchain

Detailing the ‘META DIDO’ NFT collection, Serhii Makhno writes:’It was part of MAKHNO Studio’s mission to rethink old Ukrainian traditions in architecture, interior design and decor and transform them into a modern interpretation. And today we can say with confidence that we have taken another step in the future: we have coded the Ukrainian identity. [to] Blockchain.’ However, this collection will be the first to implement plans to create a digital art series that transfers part of Ukrainian craftsmanship to the virtual world and immortalizes it within Web 3.0.

To preserve the value of each coin, Makhno has limited the launch to only 8 DIDO NFTs. In addition to the collectible token, each NFT holder will receive a ceramic copy of the statue that will be sent directly to them anywhere in the world. Each statue is also different in terms of coloring and is carved with a token smart contract address. Since all copies are unique, subsequent owners should contact the previous buyer and discuss shipping terms. 10% of each token sale will be transferred to support the Ukrainian people.

The project was carried out in cooperation. Bogdan Agafonov, He is an NFT artist known for the Ukrainian NFT war museum, whose work has sold for over half a million dollars. Interested buyers can view and purchase the collection on 1stDibs.
