The Revive Gaming Table is the result of a collaboration between esports organization Fnatic and ChopValue, a climate-conscious furniture manufacturer that specializes in taking chopsticks and turning them from coasters, chopping boards and wall ornaments to shelves and now high-end household items. -technology game tables.
Available in three variants, Essential, Pro and XL, the last two feature standing desk functionality, making them not only a gaming desk option, but a good one for creatives and any office professional who spends long hours. in front of their computers. We’ve even rounded up some of the best standing desks (opens in new tab) for you
We naturally wondered about this at Creative Bloq and took a sample for review. I didn’t know I would form an emotional attachment to a piece of furniture for the next two weeks.
Revive Gaming Desk review: Assembly
The Revive Gaming Table model I got was the XL variant, the largest of the three options. So I was expecting a rather large and bulky delivery. Still, I was stunned by the weight of the two packages I bought (one for the desktop, the other for the metal parts and motors intended to lift it).
Now, I grew up on a farm, so don’t consider myself weak. Even so, I needed my friendly neighbor’s help to get the package up the stairs to my home office without causing permanent damage to at least three different parts of my body. When it was all done, it was time to put all the pieces together.
Powder-coated tubular steel parts that make up the two legs that are even sturdier than a desktop computer are shaped in a T-bar base design and have leveling skids to increase stability. Still, each piece is easily identifiable, and even more usefully, the large number of screws and bolts required for assembly are separated into isolated pockets of the same bag; each pocket is marked with a capital letter to help you follow the clearly stated instructions. in a fully illustrated booklet. A Phillips screwdriver and Allen key are included, as well as adhesive-edged cable ties to organize the motors’ cables under the table.
Assembling the pieces was effortless, but not a quick task for one person, and especially if you can get a friend to assist you as you attach the assembled frame to the upturned desktop and then flip the entire structure to turn the table. Finally, you should definitely do it. The dual motors already came with two legs attached, which was a relief, especially since I knew I’d have to disassemble the thing again soon. Of course, this will not be a concern for buyers who will soon feel strongly that this table is a protector.
A really nice personal touch I noticed when unboxing the desktop was the signatures of several team members inside the box, which made me feel like I had a real connection with the makers of the desk from the very beginning.
And when was it collected and established? Oh boy, did that feel good?
Revive Gaming Desk review: Design
The main selling point of the Revive Gaming Table is its design and origin. The XL is made of exactly 9,565 recycled chopsticks, cut up and placed on the huge desktop in front of me. Each table will look a little different from the next as the individual appearance of each bar is still sharply visible, and although the table surface has been sanded and polished, you may feel small imperfections, small bumps and nicks all over it as you slide it. on your hand. That’s not a bad thing though, as everything feeds into its bespoke nature, the eventful history and origin of what makes up the table, which is still visible to you today as it was transformed into a prestigious piece of furniture.
This gives it a unique character and personality, allowing you to go subconsciously: “This is not a ‘product’. It’s mine. It’s mine. My precious”—you know what I mean here.
Each table is marked with a number from 1 to 1,000 with a Fnatic print and logo, and its source of 9,565 recycled chopsticks has also been proudly burned on the table.
The desktop on the XL is also absolutely huge. At 140cm wide and 74cm deep, you’ll be able to fit an enormous amount of kit on it. I can install a 34 inch monitor, my laptop is on a coffee table, and My PC sits on the table with a full-size keyboard and mouse, speakers, a docking station, and an external hard drive, and I still have free space. The frame weight capacity is claimed to be 75kg, so even if you include the 22kg desktop in that figure, you’ll be able to easily load just about anything you need in there without worrying that the standing desk motors will start to struggle.
The one and only thing I could find fault with was the cable organizer. The hole in the back of the desk for tidying and organizing cables came with a metal loop and a cover for the cables to run through, but the ring and cover were too loose and kept popping out. I don’t know if this is because it’s a review unit or because it has gotten loose for some reason but I thought it should be noted.
Revive Gaming Desk review: Standing desk features
Revive Gaming Desk has a motor as well as the wood and metal that make up the majority of the desk. With a dual motor setup connected to the digital display control box, one for each very sturdy leg, this is a standing desk that you can raise from 65cm to 117.5cm, helping you avoid back problems from sitting in front of you. computer too long.
The control box has a manual up and down button for raising and lowering the desk, but there are also four programmable buttons where you can save your height settings. Instead of holding down the arrow buttons when you want to stand up or sit down, you can program one button to your desired sitting height and another to your desired standing height, and then press them once and watch the desk do its magic. . And with four buttons, you can save sitting and standing presets for two people of different heights and setup preferences; this is useful both at home if your partner is using the desk, and in an office setting where you may have multiple users.
Everything worked flawlessly during my desk testing, and at 5’10” the desk still has more rise at my desired standing height, so it shouldn’t struggle to accommodate a 6′ or taller user.
Revive Gaming Desk review: Price
Of course, you’re not looking at IKEA prices here with furniture like the Revive Gaming Table. In the US, Revive Essential starts at $965, while the premium XL comes with a similar premium price of $1,345. There are similar prices in the UK, from £1,000 for the Essential to £1,370 for the XL. One of the most expensive gaming tables on the market and definitely the most expensive one to grace my home.
Should you buy the Revive Gaming Table?
Considering my short time at the Revive Gaming Desk is about to end, I’ve seriously considered proposing to buy it so I don’t have to send it back, we’re leaning towards a yes here. I’ve been trying really hard to find faults with this desk, and all I found was a little niggle of cable organizer rings, so if you want a quality desk that will undoubtedly last for decades and is made in a climate-sensitive manner, you probably won’t find a better or truly more unique option out there. Yes, it’s almost as heavy as the van you’ll be buying it from, and admittedly it’s a big investment, but if you’re lucky enough to get this desk and there is one on the market, then you’re going to have a hard time getting it. pressured to find a reason not to buy.
