Pantone Announces 2023 Color of the Year

“As virtual worlds become a more prominent part of our daily lives, we seek inspiration from nature and the real,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone and Hydrow collaboration

The coming together of man and machine is embraced by the new Color of the Year visuals, which Pantone worked with creative partner Huge on a design experiment using the artificial intelligence generation tool Midjourney that “explores the relationship – the tensions – between new technology and human creativity”. Pantone explains that the main image serves as an invitation to an optimistic and endless new ecosystem to explore, called the ‘Magentaverse’.

An early opportunity to explore the Magentaverse is a tech-driven immersive experience at Art Basel by Artechouse, which opens on December 3, and a series of collaborations showcase the shadow incorporated into new product designs.
