We now know when the OnePlus 11 will be announced, as OnePlus has confirmed that the phone will be unveiled on February 7.
The company said a lot on its official site (opens in new tab). Or more specifically, it’s said to hold an event called ‘Cloud 11’ on February 7, but then at the bottom of the page there’s a button to press to learn more about the aforementioned OnePlus 11 5G. This pretty much confirms that this phone will be available on Cloud 11.
By the way, additional details that you can learn by pressing this button is that it only has Hasselblad cameras (which we already know) and an alert slider.
There’s also talk of OnePlus Buds Pro 2, so expect them to come out on February 7 as well, and there’s a suggestion that some surprises may come as well.
The event will begin on February 7 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm GMT or February 8 at 1am AEDT, and of course we’ll be covering the launch in full on TechRadar.
As MySmartPrice, this isn’t the only OnePlus 11 news (opens in new tab) It also spotted the phone in a Geekbench 5 test.
The benchmark points to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which we totally expect since the OnePlus 10 Pro uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. There is also mention of 16GB of RAM, which is more than you can get the OnePlus 10 Pro. This is probably the top model though, so we’d expect a 12GB version and possibly an 8GB version.
Android 13 is also mentioned, and the OnePlus 11 scores 1,493 points for single-core and 5,112 for multi-core in this benchmark. These are impressive scores, with this year’s best Android phones generally achieving single core scores below 1,200 and multiple scores below 4,000. But of course, they often use older chipsets as well, so that makes sense.
We’d also take this benchmark with a pinch of salt, because even if it’s real, it’s based on pre-release hardware, and benchmark scores aren’t usually worth much reading at the best of times. Still, we’ll find out very soon exactly how well the OnePlus 11 performs.
Analysis: OnePlus speeds up promotions
The announcement of OnePlus 11’s launch date isn’t the first teaser we’ve got for the phone. Just a few days ago, OnePlus released a promotional video showing off its camera block and Hasselblad branding.
Not much has come from the company yet, but we expect a lot more teasers and official details to emerge in the coming weeks as OnePlus has been in the habit of feeding drops about its phones prior to the entire announcement.
In fact, it’s very likely that we already knew most of the details about the OnePlus 11 by the time it was unveiled on February 7. He’s probably already working for OnePlus, otherwise the company wouldn’t have continued to do so.
In any case, OnePlus needs to create excitement, as the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will reportedly launch in February, so the OnePlus 11 will have some serious competition.
