Mindy Kaling, “The Office” would resonate the same in today’s adult audiences – and it’s not because most people choose to work remotely.
Kaling, who wrote and played for the popular TV series, appeared in the TV series “Good Morning America”.” last week, and the conversation quickly turned to “The Office,” and how the show, whose finale aired in 2013, had gained “a whole new generation of fans” thanks to its presence on Peacock.

Kaling was then asked if he would introduce his own children – Katherine, 4 and Spencer, 2 – to the Emmy-winning comedy that launched his career.

“The writers I’m still in contact with right now are always talking about how much of that show we’re probably not going to do right now,” Kaling said. “Tastes have changed and to be honest the things that bother people have changed a lot. I think that’s one of the reasons why the show is popular, because people think there’s something fearless about the show or something taboo they’re talking about.”
The star and creator of “The Mindy Project” admitted that his kids will probably want to watch “The Office” when they are teenagers.
“It seems like a 15-year-old is the biggest fan of ‘The Office’ right now,” he said.
Earlier in the interview, when Kaling was asked what the character of “The Office” – shallow and pop culture obsessed Kelly Kapoor – would do today, Kaling replied:
“I think he would leave Dunder Mifflin to be an influencer and then probably get canceled right away. In fact, most of the characters in that series would have been canceled by now.
Kaling stars as Kelly Kapoor in “The Office.”
Kaling’s opinion has value.
“The Office,” an American adaptation of the British TV series of the same name, aired on NBC for 9 seasons from 2005 to 2013. The show aired episodes that might frighten people who were fans of the series at the time of its airing. today. This includes racist and fat jokes because Looper pointed in 2020.
Still, the show remains immensely popular, despite some scenes and jokes that may have gotten badly outdated. It became available on Netflix shortly after its broadcast on NBC ended and remained one of the most-watched purchased shows until early 2020..
