Michael B. Jordan she acted in the first two Creed movies and she was amazing in those movies! But in faith IIINot only did he take on the lead role, but he also took on the directing challenge. As you can imagine, this put an extra burden on her shoulders, and she said in a recent interview with Total Film that it was “by far the most challenging thing I’ve done in my career.”
He explained: “Working with all departments to make sure they have what they need to do their job, staying fit, developing the story, or living my own process as a player with Adonis. I was pushing myself to new limits daily.”
Luckily, he learned a lot from previous directors he had worked with over the years and said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with and learning from amazing directors like Ryan over the years. [Coogler: Creed, Fruitvale Station, Black Panther] and Steven [Caple Jr.: Creed 2]He gave me a ton of guidance and mentorship throughout the process.
He continued: “Ryan was one of the first people to really solidify directing as a yearning for me. In the first Creed, ‘It’s never the right time for him.’ I also got a ton of mentorship from Denzel Washington… There aren’t many self-directed people.”
Speaking of Rocky’s influence on Creed III, Jordan continued: “Without Rocky we wouldn’t have Donnie, and he will always be a pillar in Donnie’s life, but faith III indeed, the dawn of a new era for the series and the character. It was really important storytelling to reach a turning point in Donnie’s career a few years later, where he really proved himself with his professional career and family.”
