Charlie Cox has apparently revealed that Daredevil: Born Again will not be fully R-rated when it launches on Disney Plus.
Speaking privately to TechRadar to promote the new Netflix show Treason, Cox admitted that the Marvel Phase 5 production won’t be as bloody or mature as the character’s Netflix series.
This will certainly be disappointing news for Marvel fans who were hoping that Daredevil’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Disney Plus show would be as fierce and brutal as its three-season run on Netflix. However, Cox also suggested that Born Again would not be a completely family-friendly proposition. Instead, Fearless Man’s standalone MCU series will fall somewhere between TV-14 (12A in the UK) and R-rated (18 age rating).
When asked if he could confirm whether Daredevil: Born Again would be rated strictly R-rated, Cox said, “I have no idea. My instincts tell me it will be somewhere between what we’ve done before and what’s currently on Disney Plus. … Tons, I imagine it will remain ominous, dark and painful – you know, aimed at a more mature audience, but it probably won’t be as dreadful.
Given that Marvel Studios wants its movies and TV shows to reach as wide an audience as possible, it makes sense to shy away from a TV-MA rating for Daredevil: Born Again. However, as Marvel begins creating superhero movies and shows with a mature trend, such as Werewolf by Night, Marvel Zombies, and Deadpool 3, it begs the question: Why can’t Born Again be fully R-rated?
People from the industry, including DanielRPK (opens in new tab) and Grace Randolph (opens in new tab) (thanks to Reddit for the finds) Requested Born Again will It will be R-rated, but whether it will be 100% TV-MA has not been confirmed. We’ll wait for Marvel’s confirmation before coming to any conclusions.
It shouldn’t take us long to find out, though. Daredevil: Born Again will hit our screens in 2024, and principal photography will have to begin as soon as possible. Fortunately, Cox was on hand to confirm when filming for Daredevil’s next small-screen adventure would begin.
“I haven’t read any scripts,” Cox replied when TechRadar asked how much he knew about the program. “But I know we’ll start shooting next year. To be more precise, early next year.”
By Discussing Jacob Fisher from the movie (opens in new tab)Born Again is said to go into full production in February, which is in line with what Cox told TechRadar. With multiple cast announcements in recent weeks, including Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Margarita Levieva (The Deuce), and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo), it looks like Marvel is gearing up for production. to start.
For now, we officially know that Cox and fellow Netflix Marvel TV show alum Vincent D’Onofrio are returning as Daredevil/Matt Murdock and Kingpin/Wilson Fisk, respectively. Additionally, Born Again will consist of 18 episodes, and principal photography is scheduled to take place in New York, rather than Marvel’s usual filming location, Atlanta.
