LeBron James’ quest to become the all-time top scorer has caused Lakers ticket prices to skyrocket

While Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is on his way to becoming the NBA’s all-time top scorer, ticket prices are skyrocketing for his predicted match to break the record.

James needs just 63 points to break Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 after Thursday night’s 26-point performance against the Indiana Pacers.

While James averages 30.2 points per game, fans are predicting when he will finish the job.

Standing above his average, James could have made it to the Oklahoma City Thunder ahead of the loyal Lakers on February 7 in the Crypto.com arena. Of course, sometimes the players are off and the averages are just that – the average of what could happen any given night.

Some believe James could even hold out against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, February 9. Not only will this be a great pairing with Giannis Antetokounmpo and company, but it will also be a nationally televised match on TNT.

This means that many more people can perhaps tune in live to see the history written by the Akron, Ohio native once again.

Looking at the match against Thunder in the secondary ticket markets, the lowest cost for a seat on Ticketmaster where resale tickets were approved was $369.05 including service fees.

However, with seats closer to the action on the ground, prices increase tremendously.

The two courtside seats currently go for a total of $242,000 after fees.

It costs $100,000 per seat to sit between the referee’s desk and the Lakers bench, while having a real front row seat to watch James potentially set the new scoring record.

Other courtside sofa sets also go for $108,900 and $60,500.

For the game against the Bucks, the same two courtside seats are for sale for $242,000. But the cheapest seat in the house is higher than the Thunder game at $445.

The price of these seats is already astronomical, but it could go even higher as James and the Lakers play against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. James will have a chance to continue deleting points from this list, giving fans a clearer picture of when he can break the record.

While there’s tons of money—buyers can’t back down because all sales are final—we’re witnessing something that may never happen again in NBA history.

James, 38, plays in a capacity comparable to Tom Brady’s finally retiring from the NFL at age 45. His level of play gets better as he ages, and it’s unclear when he’ll stop tying his hits, especially with his eldest son, Bronny James, who will soon qualify to play in the NBA.
