With more employees and new machines installed at facilities across the country, the U.S. Postal Service says it’s confident it will see more on-time deliveries this holiday season.
Deadlines for gifts to arrive before Christmas are fast approaching.
The United States Postal Service (USPS), FedEx, and UPS have published recommended shipping deadlines for letters and packages to arrive on time during peak shipping season.
Earlier this month, the USPS said it was “in a strong position to handle the holiday mail and shipping rush” after adding additional manpower and new package sorters to its network. The USPS said it was able to increase its daily package processing capacity to 60 million, up from 53 million packages a day last holiday season.
The USPS said the average time to deliver a mail or package over the network is 2½ days.

UPS has announced that it will maintain guaranteed service returns during the peak season for all Next Day Air shipments.
“If a customer ships a package that is pending Next Day service, they will receive Next Day service,” UPS said last month. “The guarantee for Worldwide Express shipments remains valid during the peak season.”
In October, FedEx also reassured consumers that the company said it was ready for the holiday season.
