Another Woman Bill Cosby Files Sexual Abuse Case Against NBC

A woman who alleges that Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1986 filed a lawsuit against comedian-actor NBCUniversal and other companies in New York City on Friday, and earlier this month five more women filed a similar lawsuit.

Stacey Pinkerton says she was a 21-year-old flight attendant and model that year when she claimed that Cosby drugged her at an Illinois restaurant and took her back to a hotel room in Chicago. The lawsuit alleges that Cosby “forced sexual intercourse” with her while she was incapacitated by drugs.

The lawsuit comes more than a year after Cosby left prison after his 2018 sexual assault conviction in Pennsylvania was overturned. Earlier this year, a Los Angeles judge awarded a $500,000 reward to a woman who said Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was a teenager.

Pinkerton said the alleged assault came after she met Cosby in New York and promised to help her career. He says he starred in an episode of “The Cosby Show” on NBC, but was not featured in the final edit.

Months after the alleged attack, Pinkerton said Cosby had invited him to his show at the Chicago theater and claimed that Cosby had forcefully kissed and touched him.

“Cosby had the same or similar behavior patterns as his victims,” he says in Pinkerton’s case, “including expressing interest in furthering their careers, giving them roles on The Cosby Show, using The Cosby Show and filming locations as a means of reach.” isolating, sexually harassing and sexually assaulting women, using drugs to incapacitate their victims, and engaging in forced sexual acts with them without their consent.”

The lawsuit alleges that NBC, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Carsey-Werner Television should have known that Cosby posed a danger to women and failed to protect Pinkerton from him.

Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said Friday night that Cosby “continues to vehemently deny all allegations against him and looks forward to defending himself in court”.

“As we’ve always stated, and now America can see, this sexual assault isn’t about justice for the alleged victims, it’s ALL about MONEY,” Wyatt wrote in an email to the Associated Press. “We believe the courts and public opinion court will abide by the rule of law and free Mr Cosby from these alleged charges.”

Representatives of NBCUniversal, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Carsey-Werner Television did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday night. In the lawsuit filed by Pinkerton, it was stated that all three companies were involved in the production of “The Cosby Show”.

The lawsuits filed by Pinkerton and five other women were filed under New York’s one-year window for adults to file a sexual abuse complaint for claims that are not barred from the statute of limitations to sue.

Cosby spent nearly three years in prison only before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction, finding that he had made incriminating testimony in a statement about the encounter after believing he had immunity from prosecution. The trial judge and an interim appeals court found no evidence of such immunity.

Seven other accusers settled with Cosby’s underwriters after Pennsylvania was convicted for a libel suit they filed in Massachusetts. His lawsuits said he humiliated Cosby and his agents by denying allegations of harassment.
