Andrew Tate latest news: Influencer to stay in Romanian jail for 30 more days after Greta Thunberg spit

Andrew Tate arrested by Romanian police on human trafficking and rape charges

After Andrew Tate, a divisive social media personality and former professional kickboxer, was arrested on charges of human trafficking, rape and forming an organized crime group, an official said he would face another 30 days in prison in Romania.

Prosecutors had asked a court in Bucharest to extend his detention by 30 days.

British national Tate, previously banned from social media platforms for misogynistic views and hate speech, was arrested on Thursday along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian suspects, according to officials who raided his properties in Bucharest.

Ramona Bolla of Diicot, the agency for combating organized crime, said all four people would remain in detention for 30 days as part of the investigation, after a judge extended their detention to 24 hours. She said the verdict is not final and suspects can appeal, she said.

“The four suspects … appear to have formed an organized crime group with the aim of recruiting, hosting and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content intended for viewing on private websites for a fee,” prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said they found six women who had been sexually abused by the suspects.
