Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer and executive producer Gil Kenan is set to direct the sequel, which is the working title. Fire Departmentco-developing with the original director and co-writer Jason Reitman. Reitman will star in the sequel as a writer and will also serve as executive producer.
It has also been announced that the original cast will return for the sequel, which will include: Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon with Fin Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace. as for the original Ghost Hunters casting, all we know Ernie Hudsonwill be included, but Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray they are in the air.
Kenan said in a statement, “It’s definitely an honor to take the Proton package and go behind the scenes for the next installment of the Spengler family saga. I wish I could go back to 1984 and tell the sixth-row boy on Mann Valley West that he’ll be directing a Ghostbusters movie someday.
Reitman added: “A few years ago, my father gave me the keys to the Ecto-1 and we built it together. Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Words can never express how grateful I am to have made a movie with my dad. Now it’s time to hand these keys to my creative partner and Ghostbuster friend Gil Kenan, a brilliant director who will keep the Spengler spirit alive. I can only hope to give him the same production care and support that my father gave me.
Kenan is a great choice to direct the movie! He previously shot Monster House, Poltergeist, and City of Ember. I’m sure he’ll make another great Ghostbusters movie!
Hudson will have a reasonably sized role to play in the sequel. Reitman previously shared: “The character of Winston Zeddemore and Zeddemore Industries strongly represents the future of Ghostbusters.”
The film was previously described as “the next chapter in the Spengler family story”. It will officially return to New York City and is also expected to take place at the Firehouse headquarters in the first two. Ghost Hunters movies.
Hudson had previously said of the script: “I read a version of it. I’m sure they’ve decided to do another. I’m very happy about it, but I know it’s early. Jason was incredible and I really love and appreciate him. I’m so grateful to be able to work with him. So I’m excited.” But… I didn’t think anything and I never assume. I’m still happy.
