Acolyte will take Star Wars fans on a “never done before” journey, according to one of its stars.
Speaking privately to TechRadar during a show for season 3 of His Dark Materials, Dafne Keen said the upcoming TV show, one of many new Star Wars TV shows and movies in development, will be unlike anything fans have seen from Lucasfilm’s legendary sci-fi franchise. told. .
Given the secrecy of the Disney Plus show, Keen, who was recently revealed to be part of The Acolyte’s stellar cast, was reluctant to reveal too much. However, the former Logan actor has provided some information about what fans can expect from The Acolyte, including a small but important piece of information about its plot.
“I would say this is a prequel!” When asked what he could say about The Acolyte, Keen joked. “No, I mean, you know, it takes place 100 years before the prequel movies, and it’s kind of a description of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-led story that has never been done before.
“It was really fun to shoot – the cast is great, the director and crew are lovely. The whole experience is great and I’m already excited for people to see it.”

As Keen said, Star Wars: The Acolyte takes place a century before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The series, which began shooting at the end of October, takes place during the High Republic, when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi order were at their peak.
However, not everything is as it seems. Plot summary of the show – as described on StarWars.com (opens in new tab) – confirms that evil forces are at work somewhere in the galaxy, and it is these events that unfold in The Acolyte in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith that eventually led to the downfall of the Jedi and the Galactic Republic. That’s why The Acolyte will be completely canon in the Star Wars universe when it launches on Disney Plus.
“Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers through a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side forces in the final days of the High Republic era.” “A former Padawan reunites with the Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they encounter are more sinister than they thought.”
Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) will be the main protagonist of the series, and the former Hunger Games star will be cast as the lead actress in the series in December 2021. There’s no word on who Stenberg will be playing, but the plot synopsis mentions who will likely be the former Padawan.
Stenberg is accompanied by a number of well-known stars on the show. Alongside Keen is Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game season 2), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Resurrections), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse), and Manny Jacinto (Top Gun: Maverick) starred in supporting roles. Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is writing, directing and executive producing, while Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is among the series’ other executive producers.
Star Wars: The Acolyte will have eight episodes upon release, but it’s unclear when it’s coming to Disney Plus – and it has a good chance of making it onto our list of the best Disney Plus shows when it comes out.
