Optical illusions have become such a hot feature at Creative Bloq this year that we had to create a post outlining our favorite types of illusions. This post celebrates three animal-based optical illusions that melted our minds this year.
While all of these were popular on the site, one was so popular that it broke our internet for a while – we just couldn’t contain it (get it? No? Okay, it popped up). So get ready to have your eyes fooled as we round up the best animal-themed optical illusions. Want more? Here are our favorite optical illusions of all time.
01. Whirling Horse

This illusion was shared by TrippyHub on TikTok (opens in new tab) (see above) and has been surprising us ever since. The question is, which way does the horse turn? To be honest, we don’t know. And at this point, we’re pretty sure we’ll never know. But that’s the (black) beauty of the spinning horse. Others seem to be in the same (horse)shoe as we are, with unhelpful commenters on Twitter ranging from bewildered to thinking they really control the horse.
do you need more information? what is psychology (opens in new tab) “Because the image does not contain visual cues for depth, the ambiguous 2D figure can be viewed from two different perspectives. This variation between two perceptual states is called bistable perception.” Here you go, here you go.
02. Hidden Tiger
It seems that only one percent of people can actually see the hidden tiger in this jungle-themed image from artists Rusty Rust. (opens in new tab). And we were quite happy when we were among them. Yes, we know you can see a tiger – that’s pretty obvious. But there is a second ‘hidden tiger’ lurking right in front of his face.
Can not you see? Here’s a hint: This isn’t a tiger painting, and it’s hiding between the first tiger stripes.
03. Cat
Posted on 9Gag, to a slightly smaller feline friend dividing the internet into yet another directional conundrum. This cat minds its own business as it climbs the stairs… no, wait, down. No. Above. Ahh. Anyway, he’s walking on some stairs. And apparently, the direction you see yourself walking says a lot about your personality.
According to The Minds Journal (opens in new tab)If you see the cat walking upstairs, you will be more optimistic, if you see the cat walking downstairs, you will be more pessimistic. No scientific justification has been offered, so we will have to rely on their word for this.
