Harrison Ford is known for fighting for galactic freedom as Han Solo in “Star Wars,” traveling the world on adventures as “Indiana Jones,” and hunting replicas as a cop in “Blade Runner.”
He is one of the highest-grossing actors in Hollywood, with films grossing more than $9 billion worldwide. In his sixth decade in the entertainment industry, Ford is challenging himself once again – this time as Jacob Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” prequel “1923.”
Harrison is credited with helping the diverse cast and crew he’s had the opportunity to work with over the years help him become the actor he is today. When asked about the big “secret” to having such a long career in an ever-changing industry, Ford told Fox News Digital: “Other people. Other people who work with people who are successful in their fields.”
“So the range of directors I’ve had the opportunity to work with has been absolutely phenomenal,” he added.

“I was very, very lucky. I got into this business at a time when the film business was so closely linked to culture and we had such an impact on culture,” said Ford. “It was a really good time for the movie industry and some of the movie industry giants were still working. [Alan J.] Pakula and Sydney Pollack and Peter Weir and many more at a time when movies are evolving.”

According to Paramount+, the new show explores the early 20th century when “pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plagued the mountain in the west and the Duttons that call it home.”
Ford hadn’t even seen a script, but believed Sheridan’s ideas when he agreed to star in the show. He said one of the “real draws” was getting the opportunity to work with Dame Helen Mirren again.

“1923” is the second spin-off of the popular series that follows the lives of the Dutton family, who run the Yellowstone Dutton Farm. This series focuses on the Dutton family, who survived the early 20th century, including the Spanish flu epidemic, the historic drought in America, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression.

He continued, “Like I’ve said before, I had to slap myself over and over on set. Being like, ‘Oh my God, we’re doing this thing.’ These are people I’ve modeled on my whole life – legends. And now we’re sharing the screen with them. It’s so special. And it’s great. The thing is, we all know they’re great at what they do. But they’re such amazing people. That’s the great thing about this job, getting to know them as people and they’re so amazing.”
Elizabeth Strafford, played by Michelle Randolph, says, “It was really special to work with them and get to know them and watch them work on and off set. They’re just such beautiful people. I mean, it was definitely a dream come true.”
